How do I check a London clinic?

London clinics are regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Check the clinic’s registration and latest inspection report, then the surgeon on the GMC register. Moorfields Private operates from several London sites including City Road, Bath Street and New Cavendish Street, so check which site, and which surgeon, your quote is for. Our surgeon checklist has the questions to ask.

FAQ

Blepharoplasty in London: questions

These answers are general information, not medical advice. A consultation with a registered surgeon is the place to discuss your own eyes.

Why are London prices so different?

Partly what’s included. Some London figures are surgeon-only, like this £3,000 upper-lid fee, while others, such as Moorfields Private’s, include consultant fees, follow-up and medication.

Is Harley Street better?

An address isn’t a qualification. Check the clinic with the CQC and the surgeon with the GMC wherever they practise.

Does the NHS in London fund eyelid surgery for hooded lids?

Only if the hooding reduces your visual field enough. South East London uses 120° laterally and 40° vertically as its threshold.
