Blepharoplasty cost in the UK

The NHS puts private blepharoplasty at £2,000 to £6,000. Published clinic prices sit across that range and beyond, and the headline figure often leaves things out. Here is what we found, and what to ask.

How much does blepharoplasty cost in the UK?

Usually between £2,000 and £6,000. That is the NHS guide range, which also warns that consultations, further surgery and follow-up care can add to the bill. Where you fall depends on whether you have upper lids, lower lids or both done, the type of anaesthetic and the clinic.

This page is part of our independent UK guide to blepharoplasty. Prices below come from each clinic’s own published page, checked on the dates shown. They are not quotes and we do not recommend any of these providers.

What do clinics publish?

These are published prices from clinics’ own pages, gathered in November 2026 unless dated otherwise. Some are “from” prices, and what’s included varies.

Why do prices differ so much?

Mostly because the headline figure covers different things. Four things move the price most:

What should a blepharoplasty quote include?

Ask for a written, itemised quote and check it covers:

  1. The surgeon’s fee, and the surgeon’s name.
  2. Hospital or clinic facility and theatre fee.
  3. Anaesthetist’s fee, if you’re having sedation or general anaesthetic.
  4. Pre-operative tests and the first consultation.
  5. Medication to take home.
  6. Follow-up appointments, and what happens and who pays if you need further treatment.

Is a cheaper price a warning sign?

Not by itself. A low price can reflect a day case under local anaesthetic in a clinic rather than a hospital. Price is a poor guide to quality, though, so check the clinic’s registration and the surgeon’s record whatever you pay. See choosing a surgeon.

Can I pay monthly?

Some clinics offer finance. One Birmingham clinic, for example, shows a monthly figure alongside its upper-lid price. Finance is credit, so read the terms and the total amount repayable, and don’t let a payment plan rush the decision.

Will the NHS pay instead?

Only where the eyelids cause a medical problem such as reduced vision, and the test varies by area. Cosmetic surgery isn’t funded. See blepharoplasty on the NHS.

FAQ

Blepharoplasty cost questions

These answers are general information, not medical advice. A consultation with a registered surgeon is the place to discuss your own eyes.

How much is upper blepharoplasty in the UK?

Published prices we found for upper lids alone ran from £2,395 in Glasgow to £4,005 in the Manchester area, with London surgeon-only fees around £3,000 before hospital costs.

How much is lower blepharoplasty (eye bag removal)?

Lower-lid prices we found ranged from £2,695 to £5,995 under general anaesthetic. The incision approach and anaesthetic make the biggest difference.

Is the consultation free?

Sometimes. Fees we saw ran from £50 to £275–£500, and some clinics deduct it from the operation price if you go ahead.

Is blepharoplasty worth the money?

That depends on what is bothering you and whether surgery can change it. Eyelid surgery won’t lift a low brow or fix crow’s feet or dark circles, so a consultation should establish what is causing the look you dislike before you pay for anything.
